There was pandemonium at the Rivers state seat of power earlier today
with law enforcement agents storming the Government House ostensibly to
disperse a crowd of supporters who have come to express solidarity with
the governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Panic reigned everywhere as policemen launched teargas canisters into Government House.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports coming from Rivers state indicate that
soldiers attached to governor Rotimi Amaechi have reportedly been
recalled and detained on orders from a perceived “higher authority.”
Sources say plans are underway to withdraw the Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) protecting the Government House.
We shall continue to monitor events in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, as they unfold.
